Started from 롱디 now we here!
After 3 years, 6 months, and 15 days.
Ending the long distance streak of 1293 days from September 18, 2014, I proposed and she said yes!
This is where I did it from (Vista Hermosa Natural Park).
Yes.. it's borderline shady af, but the spot I picked had a real nice view with the bench with LA skyline. Good thing I don't have to do this twice because I wouldn't go back here! More on that later...
There's gonna be string lights around the bench which will be the background, and a lot (and i mean a LOT) of candle lights around the park.
Is it bad that I'm pretty proud of getting a good deal (and not paying taxes since I bought in Oregon)? Either way I think she liked it! Although she keeps asking for a 10-year upgrade..
So I would stand in front of that bench in the middle, and there was a walkway by the candle lights.
Maybe I'll go back here and get a good picture of the spot.
We have NOT been back here yet!
Super fun and stressful at the same time preparing for this thing. I was living in Bremerton and she was still living in San Diego. Of course I wanted it to be a surprise, so I had to tell her all kinds of lies (first and last of its kind, I think) about how busy I was going to be that weekend and I wasn't gonna be able to talk at all during that time.
At the same time, I wanted to involve my friends and her friends, so had to pick a decent enough location to do all that. Looking back at it as a 36 years old man (2024 as of writing this), probably should have hired a photographer or something.. but I was a young buck at only 28 years old!
So ultimately I talked to her friends, had her come up to LA to hang out (nails, whaddaya know), and they were gonna "stop by" at this random-ass park in the middle of some ghetto area. She was almost too scared to walk into the park! Can you imagine what would've happened? (Special shoutout to Rachel for pulling this off!)
Meanwhile my friends and I were setting this up for like 3 hours, believe it or not..
So we had to recreate our moment because all the pictures were too far/blurry and we wanted to keep one for the records.
I'm sure some of the pictures that Arthur gave us are around somewhere on some random usb stick.. hopefully we find it soon.
That was Sinae's best shot at acting "surprised" and "감동" and all that.. nice try.
She didn't quite have a reaction that the character from one of our favorite shows did... like this
My heroes for the day!
She came to visit and we signed the papers! Officially, no wedding, but married on paper!
I would hear about this for the next 10+ years on how I just failed to get her dad's permission...
